Did you know that the earliest known name for The Tower was The Thunderbolt or The Lightning?! Ever since I learned this it shifted my perception of this card. The Thunderbolt comes to disrupt our solidified perceptions. When we think we have it all figured out The Lightning strikes from the sky and sets fire to the dry kindling of our self-righteous over identification and attachment to permanence. All things are flow. All things are impermanent. There is no solitary, stagnant, complete understanding. The Thunderbolt is here to remind us of just that. So don’t hold your thoughts to firmly. The tighter you hold your convictions the more likely you are to fall. And it’s a long way down baby.
