Just got Daniel Avery’s “Techno Is Boring” and am enjoying it a page at a time. This full-page dedicated to one slim quote from Avalon Emerson is sending me. In r/djs, where I posted it, there’s a healthy debate as the quote whooshed over some heads, while others questioned what fraud, specifically, we’re talking about. Is this about of ghost producers, instagram followership driving bookings, lip synching cutely to pre-recorded tracks, christ poses on a stage, cake throwing, playing prerecorded sets, nepobaby shows at the Sphere, Spotify's squeezing out real artists with AI-generated slop, Ticketmaster scalping their own tickets? What am I missing? There's so much fraud, it's hard to keep track of it all!
