Conservative MP Tamara Jansen blocked us on X a few hours after our last post went live yesterday.

In that post, we criticized her portrayal of MAiD for mental illness during her parliamentary speech introducing Bill C-218.

Other than tagging her on X, we haven’t interacted with her or her audience, and we didn’t say anything rude or offensive—we just criticised her claims.

What is it about what we wrote that Jansen is protecting herself and her audience from? Facts? Clarity? Accountability?

This raises serious concerns about whether Jansen is engaging with this issue in a way that is informed by the legal and clinical realities of MAiD, or is just fear mongering to fit the narrative of her Bill. This is particularly concerning given her role on the parliamentary committee set to discuss MAiD and mental illness over the next year.
