🍂 A Thanksgiving Note from Me & the Farm 🍂

I’ve been thinking a lot about this past year—

This year has been… a lot. Good, hard, beautiful, exhausting, surprising, holy, heartbreaking, hopeful. All of it. And somehow, we’re still here. Still doing the work. Still loving these animals. Still building this little place into something that matters.

We started horsemanship lessons, which has been one of my favorite things. Watching people—some brand new to horses—breathe a little deeper, slow down, and just connect… that’s the magic right there. No pressure, no performance, just learning how to be with an animal who’s honest with you.

The donkey walks were a hit too. Those silly little hooves have taken so many people on their first “walk with no expectations.” There’s something healing about walking next to a mini donkey who truly does not care what your hair looks like or how stressed you are.

We went out to events, we laughed, we sweated, we loaded and unloaded the trailer a thousand times. We found new homes for animals who deserved their shot at a good life. And we also held space for the ones we couldn’t save… and as hard as those moments were, I’m grateful we were the hands that helped them leave this world gently.

We met so many new people this year—kind souls, curious folks, people who ended up becoming friends without us even planning it. And we held tight to our old people, the ones who’ve been cheering us on through every stall-cleaning, barn drama, and donkey shenanigan.

And even though this year has been heavy for a lot of folks—and honestly, heavy for America as a whole—I still believe in good people. I still believe in community. I still believe in us. You couldn’t convince me otherwise.

So this Thanksgiving, I’m just thankful. Thankful for the animals, for the land, for every lesson they’ve taught me. Thankful for every one of you who has supported the farm, shared a post, taken a class, sent a message, signed up for a walk, donated, prayed, laughed, cried—whatever your version of showing up has been.

You’ve made this year a little softer. A little brighter. A little more possible.

Happy Thanksgiving from me, the horses, the donkeys, and the whole wild crew.
