Nestled in the quiet pines of rural Georgia, Manzanita Farm is more than a farm — it’s a sanctuary. A soft landing place. A home for rare heritage breeds, for people seeking connection, and for animals who still have stories left to tell.

Here, We believe in slow horsemanship, in listening before we speak, and in the healing that happens when humans and animals learn from each other.

At Manzanita Farm, we focus on three pillars:

Preserving Heritage Breeds

We proudly care for and promote the critically endangered Carolina Marsh Tacky — the historic horse of the Lowcountry. These horses are sure-footed, intelligent, and deeply loyal, and our mission is to help preserve the breed through education, ethical training, and community outreach. Alongside them is our cherished herd of miniature donkeys, each with their own personality, charm, and therapeutic magic.

Teaching with Heart

Horsemanship here looks different. It’s slower. Kinder. Rooted in patience, curiosity, and respect. Whether you’re brushing a donkey for the first time or learning how to handle a Marsh Tacky on the ground, we focus on connection before correction.
