Feb. 2022: "I don't think Russia is going to invade."

Sep. 2023: "The Ukrainians are doomed to lose."

Jan. 2024: "It's ridiculous to think Ukraine can hold the line in 2024."

Apr. 2025: "It's unimaginable Ukraine will hang on beyond 2025."

Jul. 2026: "The Russians are slowly moving forward."

📊 As you can see, the Kremlin's favorite "political scientist" has a fantastic track record. Mearsheimer has been consistently wrong about this war, starting from its causes and then going through analyses of its developments.

In academia, he’s famous for being wrong yet somehow this doesn’t filter into his popularity with these audiences.

I guess writing drivel like "wars happen because they are inevitable!" is a comfortable fairy tale that aggressors and their sympathizers can use to absolve themselves of responsibility.

🙄 And yet f00ls like Mearsheimer, Sachs, and Chomsky continue to dominate Western discussion of russia's war – producing what may be the best material for russian propaganda in the English language.

PS: Remember, a large part of the "Russia won't invade" crowd suddenly changed to "of course they did, and it's good!" instead of saying "sorry, I was wrong, I'll take time off from geopolitics to study it more" - and it only went downhill from there.
