I've written four Notes about men and silence. I've written to my MP. Twice.

Eighty-five percent of the people who've responded are women.

I haven't had this conversation with a single man I actually know and respect. Not one. I keep meaning to. I haven't.

There's a word for what I'm doing. I think it's performance.

I'm not saying what I’ve written is worthless. I'm saying there's a gap between what I'm publicly claiming to care about and what I'm privately prepared to do. And because I’ve noticed it this week, I'm writing it down here before I find a reason not to.
