Some valid points made in here. I write regularly about what to me seem like the at times frankly deranged double standards, selective outrage etc that characterise mainstream liberal coverage of Trump.
The problem with this is it becomes a bit too easy to slip into online tribal mode, and consequently overlook his clear flaws (and those of a section (not all) of his supporters). Yes some of these are themselves exaggerated but others are also clearly worth thinking about. On the most basic level, anyone who uses Twitter knows that parts of the MAGA-sphere are basically mental, and will buy into virtually any conspiracy going.
Anyway, I hold myself out as someone who pushes back against groupthink so I’d be being a bit hypocritical if I didn’t call it out in all its various guises (not merely the ridiculous progressive/‘normy’/jihadi forms).
