NEW: The DOJ has filed a motion to block the appointment of an independent monitor to release the Epstein files in the Ghislaine Maxwell case.

The DOJ argues that federal courts lack the authority to enforce the Epstein Transparency Act and that Reps. Ro Khanna and Thomas Massie don’t have standing to recommend an independent monitor.

In short, it appears the DOJ’s position is that no court can force them to produce the files.
