Alphabet is the most advantaged company in the AI space because it has been doing it longer than anyone. That said, it has had a massive talent drain, and its management have been Search caretakers for too long. As I mentioned in the Michael Lewis interview, Alphabet's search secret, or one of them, was the very low cost of search, since the vast majority of searches were informational or not monetizable. AI search is much more expensive, but Google knows this space well, and may have the best LLM in time. It has been winning in the developer world, especially taking from AWS because it has such a full set of tools and technology vertically integrated into a "full stack." There is a lot of uncertainty. It seems to be falling in Alphabet's favor now, but profitability will be a big question. There is much more, but that is the short form answer. I do not believe Warren Buffett made this purchase.
