I wrote an essay highlighting Tigers SP Keider Montero and his soft breakout as a reliable major league starter.

Since 5/23, he has improved his FIP (3.97), xFIP (4.71), SIERA (4.58), K-BB% (11.6%), K% (17.8%) and BB% (6.3%).

The rotation has been obliterated by injuries to Skubal, Mize, Verlander, Melton, Olson, Jobe, and Madden. Montero has kept the rotation somewhat stable despite Valdez and Flaherty’s struggles.

If Montero can keep providing quality outings, this will be a big development success for AJ Hinch, Chris Fetter, and the coaching staff.
