In response to a post titled ‘The Great Australian Art Con’ substack.com/@thisartli… which argues that contemporary art culture has replaced criticism and judgement with institutional promotion, self-branding and performative validation, leaving artists, artworks and audiences trapped inside a managed cycle of visibility, affirmation and publicity:

It is hard not to sympathise with the guts of what is being said here. Staged photographs of artists beside their creations are faintly ridiculous.
