The Coup Is On
On the eve of Charlie Kirk's funeral, while many of us were watching college football, Trump last night declared war on American citizens who dare criticize him. Everyone over the age of 10 knows this is a totalitarian's move. He publicly called for, and no doubt privately, his attorney general, Pam Bondi, to go after his opposition.
While this story is still in 'what was said vs. what is done' mode, it should be noted that it's being done while most people would rather be enjoying themselves on the weekend. That indicates a true strategy.
By publicly calling out Bondi, it indicates a private reluctance within his ranks. Bondi now faces immense pressure during Kirk's funeral and what might happen afterward to comply. There has already been a purge to find people in the government who are not only MAGA but are also not reluctant to wage war on their own citizenry and back a coup. This, for Bondi and others in the administration, is where the rubber hits the road.
With the military in place in strategic parts of the country, a defining and energizing event (Kirk's shooting) to spark his following, Trump has, no doubt, decided to move forward with an armed coup.
