Simple Truths: "The most disrespected person in America is the Black woman. The most unprotected person in America is the Black woman. The most neglected person in America is the Black woman." —Malcom X

____

Black women face severe and overlapping inequities in the U.S.: they are about three times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes, have the highest rates of heart-disease mortality among women, are about 40% more likely to die from breast cancer, and are nearly twice as likely to have diabetes—often compounded by greater exposure to pollution and barriers to quality mental-health care. At the same time, Black girls and women are disproportionately affected by violence, making up over a third of missing women despite a far smaller share of the population, with many cases receiving delayed attention and limited media coverage.

Let’s honor and protect all women, by recognizing and responding to the unique, often life-threatening burdens that Black women disproportionately carry every day.
