Avian influenza was found in a sheep in the U.K.
So these are the details….
“Source: DEFRA press release [edited]u19268662.ct.sendgrid.n…The UK's Chief Veterinary Officer has confirmed a case of influenza ofavian origin (H5N1) in a single sheep in Yorkshire following repeat positive milk testing. The case was identified following routine surveillance of co-located livestock on a premises where avian influenza had been confirmed in captive birds. Defra has introduced livestock surveillance on infected premises following the outbreak of avian influenza in dairy cows inthe US. The infected sheep has been humanely culled to enable extensive testing.”
Poor sheep that is all I can say.
Is this a ‘case’??? It is clear the sheep was not ill. Surveillance of this kind has not been done before and with these PCR tests at high Ct-values, tiny fragments of virus will be detected….
