This is what I mean when I say Trumpism isn’t a political problem as much as a serious problem in sadly normalized gaps in human development. Our president’s malicious immaturity has gotten so much more play than the fact that millions of people have little to no idea he does not come close to operating as a grownup. It’s a tough call, I know, but I think we’d be in better shape if more people got freaked out over Trump’s strikingly low level of consciousness than his abhorrent “policies.” Quotation marks because they aren’t real policies at all, but one chronic adversarial stance in the service of one man never having to feel a molecule “lesser than.”
