This is pretty wild. Robert Olen Butler (who won the Pulitzer for Fiction in 1993) couldn’t get a meeting with an agent at AWP.

He also posted his query, which honestly seems pretty good. This is a famous short story. He’s not wrong that it might have some built-in audience just from name recognition.
