I finished reading Houellebecq’s Submission (2015).

I dragged my feet on reading it because really, who needs to read more about the Islamic takeover of Europe at this point? It’s depressing and ongoing.

Yet I knew from the first paragraph of reading that this guy gets it. And the paragraph was not political; it was rather the simplicity and clarity of the ideas expressed that was the giveaway; shitlibs obfuscate, they revel in needless complexity and unnecessary verbiage. I saw through my research later that Houellebecq is a huge fan of Schopenhauer, he’s against the whole European project, etc., but I think those are merely a manifestation of Houellebecq’s inner desire to honestly understand the world.

I will be reading much more of his work. What a pleasure to read.
