I’ve started this Substack as a way to share what I’m working on—to keep you in the loop as I chip away at the handful of projects, animated film, musicals, albums, books etc that I’m currently working on. I have two main things on the go,

The Madness of King Tubby

This is a project I’m writing, animating, and scoring myself. It’s a ten-minute short about a music producer who discovers echoes where there were none, a sound so rich it changes everything—his music, his life, and his grip on reality. There’s a spirit in the mix, a canyon of light, and a friend who becomes something else.

Where am I now? I’m storyboarding the chaos. A bar full of broken promises. A studio filling with light. A gunshot that becomes a snare drum. Clifton ranting in a stark, white room while Tubby—consumed by the echoes—shuts himself away, chasing a sound no one else can hear. It’s all coming together, piece by piece. Slowly, but slowly.

This story is about obsession and creation—how they feed you, and how they eat you alive. And because it’s a story about sound, I’m creating the score to carry it.

The Next Album

Music is always the thing I come back to. Right now, I’m deep into refining the beats and sounds that’ve been piling up—40 or so tracks that are waiting to be shaped into something cohesive. The process feels messy in the best way: hours in Ableton, nudging rhythms off-grid, finding where a snare should sit, or when to leave space for nothing at all.

I don’t know exactly what this next album will become yet, it’s too big to look at all at once. I could do with some help but I’m kinda on my own.

I’ll share more about the music as it takes shape—where it comes from, and where it’s going. For now, it feels good to be back in the sound.
