A criminal investigation into a sitting senator's coal empire, built by career prosecutors who believed the case was strong, was killed by the Office of the Deputy Attorney General. The man who gave the order was Trump's personal defense lawyer.
The senator owes Trump his seat. The DOJ owed the public an investigation. Only one of those debts got paid.
