Last week’s Sunday Times Culture contained an intriguing piece by Justin Marozzi on Orhan Pamuk’s new book Memories of Distant Mountains in which Marozzi discusses Pamuk’s illustrated notebooks.

For those of us who are both devoted to our notebooks and/or devoted readers the fab

and her cool work here in her stack Noted the article makes interesting reading. Pamuk, in his youth, had thought of becoming a painter before writing novels took over. He paints in his notebooks and then inscribes words over them (as per this example of his study with a view of the Hudson included in the article).

Of notebooking there is no end.
