Well I missed my connection and am spending the day at the Frankfurt airport hoping to catch a standby so I can get to Spain before 11:30 pm tonight (a full 12 hours after my original scheduled arrival). First impressions (to be taken with a grain of salt because I’m tired and cranky) - if everything in Germany runs like clockwork and is ridiculously efficient, no one told the folks at the Frankfurt airport. Lines are long, busses to transport you from one terminal to the next are few and far between, everyone standing in line with me seemed to be on the verge of missing their next flight. Agents, service people, etc have been dour and barely helpful. Pleasant interactions have been its other travellers (I was like a moth to flame for English and a sweet American woman at one food vendor helped me reset my mood with a pleasant conversation. Small acts of kindness go a long way.)
