I found this on Threads. It rings true, based on my limited experience.

Marisel Morales, a former senior government official writes the following (collated from her @mariselmoralesnyc account)

Turns out the 81-year-old man everyone said was losing it expertly outmaneuvered every coup plotter against him in under 24 hours. None of what I detail below happened by osmosis. This was all teed up and executed by President Joe Biden with the perfection only wisdom and experience can deliver, because as we say in Cuba: "Mas sabe el diablo por viejo, que por diablo."

- Biden dropped out of the Presidential race without warning. He did it on the Sunday afternoon immediately following the Republican National Convention. And his announcement timing was perfect: AFTER all the Sunday morning shows were done. He deservedly screwed the media like only an experienced politician could.

- And on the subject of timing, Biden dropped out after allowing Trump and his minions to spend four days and millions of dollars going on live TV with their Convention mounting a campaign against him: not his policies per se, but Biden by name. He screwed Trump and Republicans with perfection. Completely changed the landscape in a way no one saw coming and nobody was prepared for.

- He waited a bit and then announced he was endorsing his VP Harris for the job, catching the press off-guard for a second time, on the same day. And with that endorsement, he thwarted the efforts of the coup plotters, Pinky and the Brain and the tech bros, to replace him with a younger white male as the candidate and dump Kamala Harris in the process. He screwed Steve Schmidt & Dean Phillips, Joe Manchin, their Pass the Torch efforts, and every backstabber around him.

- In the process, Biden completely destroyed Trump’s vice presidential pick strategy of choosing a guy with an Asian Indian wife to counter VP Harris’ Asian Indian ethnicity and appeal to that demographic group. Not to mention JD Vance thought he’d be running against a woman of color, and SURPRISE! His opponent is gonna be a white male who actually knows what he is doing.

- Biden made the necessary calls on background to make sure the turnover was seamless and he got it done. He trusted Kamala Harris and Kamala Harris trusted him, they had each other’s backs. He made the campaign a turnkey operation for her. That was no small accomplishment.

I still believe President Biden could have beaten Trump in November, but he made the decision to withdraw and I respect it. He did it for love of country because this 2024 campaign was never about him or his ego, it was about saving our democracy. And he passed the torch to the person he trusts and believes can do just that for We the People.

Both Biden and Harris taught all of us a valuable lesson: If you put country over party and do the right thing because it’s the right thing to do, magic can happen. Godspeed to the Harris Campaign for President.
