THEY CAN’T SHOOT YOU FOR. NOT SHOPPING (2)
Just a little note to announce that today I cancelled FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM and TIK TOK on my phone and computer, realizing that every key-stroke and seconds of linger ar analyzed and sold, enriching Mark Zuckerberg and his support of our murderous President. The pernicious quality of the Internet is that it makes us all complicit. They have conscripted our joys and pleasures to fund their heartless, self-serving enterprise. Facebook accepted hundreds of deceptive ads from Russian Intelligence to aid Trump’s first campaign. Cambridge ANALYTICA bought data from FACEBOOK specifically selecting and targeting “impressionable" people they could lure into voting for Trump. They have addicted our children, made outlandish ideas and beliefs appear objectively popular, and enriched themselves and gained political power from monitoring our talk communications with friends and family, sharing photos, watching entertaining videos.
Every one of our communications with loved ones, our political pronouncement of every kind are recorded, saved and sold. I’m writing Apple to say I will not upgrade my computer or phone. I can go to Lowes instead of Home Depot and in every case write and tell them why. If all the 12 million who showed up at the last No Kings Day were to target two or three companies—say Facebook, Instagram, and Amazon we would only need to drop their reported earnings by 1 or 2% and their investors would be demanding. changes of the Board. Let’s not let our amusements fuel our oppression. Try this for a month. They can’t shoot you for not shopping.
