Someone sat with me once during a hard week.

They didn't try to fix anything, offer advice, or ask what they could do.

They just... sat there. Made tea, and hung around.

At one point I said "sorry, I'm not even saying anything interesting."

They just looked at me and said "I'm not here for interesting."

I didn't know what to do with that for a moment.

Nobody had ever just... stayed. Without needing me to perform okayness or entertain them or earn the company somehow.
