Gratitude in Every Season
Scripture: “Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you”. NRSV
Gratitude is often easiest when life is going well. We naturally give thanks for joyful moments, answered prayers, and seasons of abundance. Yet, the Apostle Paul encourages believers to give thanks in all circumstances. This is not because every circumstance is good, but because God remains faithful through them all.
A grateful heart changes the way we see the world. It helps us notice the quiet gifts we might otherwise overlook like a supportive friend, a moment of peace, a sunrise, a shared meal, or the strength to face another day. Gratitude reminds us that God’s presence is woven into both ordinary and extraordinary moments.
This does not mean ignoring pain or pretending difficulties do not exist. True gratitude can live alongside grief, uncertainty, and struggle. In fact, giving thanks during hard seasons can become an act of faith by trusting that God is still at work even when we cannot yet see the full picture.
When we practice gratitude, our hearts slowly shift from scarcity to abundance, from fear to trust. We begin to recognize that even in imperfect days, grace is still being poured out around us.
Today, pause and reflect on the blessings in your life. Write down three things you are thankful for, no matter how small they may seem. Let gratitude become a daily practice that draws you closer to God and opens your heart to joy.
Prayer: Gracious God, thank you for your constant presence in my life. Open my eyes to the blessings around me each day. Teach me to live with a grateful heart in every season, trusting in your goodness and love. May gratitude shape my thoughts, words, and actions so that I may reflect your light to others. Amen.
