this was our very first stop so we were WELL BEHAVED money wise. It’s an amazing city but not the best place to go on a tight budget. We splurged on a few meals but spent several nights eating $3 chicken rice. We didn’t visit a single cafe — instead we spent each morning nursing black instant coffee while listening to the call to prayer from our tiny balcony in the backstreets of Taksim.
