The app for independent voices

This is what being on Substack feels like.

The Loneliness No One Talks About

No one warns you about the loneliness that comes with growing.

The silence when old friendships stop fitting, but new ones haven’t formed.

The ache of outgrowing places, conversations, even versions of yourself.

Growth is beautiful, but it can also be isolating.

Keep growing anyway. You’ll find your kindred spirits.

“I don’t want to be annoying” has killed more art than capitalism ever did.

Be annoying. Be repetitive. Say it again. And again. And again — until they finally hear you.

You made it, you own it

You always own your intellectual property, mailing list, and subscriber payments. With full editorial control and no gatekeepers, you can do the work you most believe in.

April Fool's Fish, and Blessed Carlo

no shade y’all but how do I get out of the “Pinterest coded-Substack is like reading the morning paper-wannabe Carrie Bradshaw-fake intellectual princess babygirl thought daughter” algorithm… not everyone is meant to be a philosopher! where are the stories? the book and film reviews? the well researched essays on global feminisms? the poetry and prose??? I need more of that!

NO, I don’t want to “learn how to grow my substack account.”

Let’s stop turning social platforms into a constant reminder that we’re never doing enough.

I simply want to share my raw, authentic story, wisdom, and all the advice I wish I didn’t ignore.

And I want to read about others sharing the same.

I’ll take real and relatable over optimized any day.
