If the first part of this series traced the ancient schism within Jewish history - the conflict between covenant and the golden calf - and the second examined its modern political faces among secular elites, then this third installment turns to a danger of a different kind: not the Jew who dissolves Jewish particularity into cosmopolitan ideology, but the Jew who retreats so far into sectarian enclosure that he comes to view Jewish sovereignty itself as contamination.
