Funeral of the Palestinian Christian journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, held in 2022, after she was executed by a shot in the head while reporting for Al Jazeera.

I remember being unable to watch the horror of what was unfolding. I covered my eyes to avoid seeing the coffin fall. Sacrilege. Today, I can watch it because I have seen much worse the past 27 months in Gaza.

It was shown on Al Jazeera. Of course the BBC and legacy media would never show this.

And if they did, it would be accompanied by a dose of manufactured consent to mislead the viewer into normalising it.

It is one glimpse of life in Palestine (before Oct 7th).

Israel boldly lied about how Shireen was killed, got found out, then admitted it, but still suffered no repercussions.

Then they attacked her casket on live TV. They kicked the knees of the pall bearers until they buckled and the coffin nearly fell to the ground.

Watch it.

This is the brutality that Palestinians face - Christian, Jewish or Muslim - every single hour of every day.

Yet every single hour of every day, the “civilised world” blames Palestinians for being beaten at funerals, in their homes, in nurseries and hospitals. For being killed. For being alive.

That is how it is - isn’t it?
