The Flash boom was a creator-driven movement and no creator would design the system we have now. This is the work of vapid marrow-sucking venture capitalists wielding business degrees like truncheons. They are an army of amazingly boring people, men and women who could not pass a captcha test at gunpoint, who have convinced themselves that generating maximum profit at any cost is a fun and interesting thing to do with their finite time on earth. They are headteachers in spirit, if not in name. If we are to have any future we must stop taking these people as seriously as they take themselves.
