My interview yesterday with TVP World:
️⃣ Rubio-Lavrov meeting: I'd be surprised to see any breakthrough. Russia's position seems to have toughened, and Trump has sided with Ukraine more often than in the past.
️⃣ Drapatyi, Fedorov and Syrskyi: A great victory for Ukrainian democracy. Civil society, too, because removing Syrskyi was also a move against corruption. But most of all, this was a victory of what I would call the Maidan generation - personified by Drapatyi and Fedorov - over the generation from the 1990s with roots in the Soviet era, like Syrskyi.
️⃣ Reinstating Fedorov? - I'm skeptical. That would be a rare 180 degree turn. And after all, Fedorov was not just clashing with Syrskyi but also with a lot of generals. He might accept another powerful post, as promised by Zelenskyi.
️⃣ Ukraine reconquering Russian-occupied territory on a strategic scale: That would be optimal, but remains unlikely. Right now, Ukraine with its deep strikes is trying to confront Putin with a simple choice: either scale back his aggression and show more flexibility in negotiations, or risk losing power in Russia itself.
