According to an investigation by Hungarian outlet Telex, Viktor Orbán personally ordered the raid on Ukraine's Oschadbank cash-in-transit officers.
The assets were eventually returned. The deportation orders were revoked. The Schengen entry bans were lifted.
That raises an obvious question: If a crime had actually been committed, why return everything and cancel every punishment? If the reporting is accurate, this was not law enforcement. It was the abuse of state power for political retaliation.
Europe cannot condemn authoritarianism in Moscow while tolerating it in Budapest.
