Some of those fathers are at the front, in trenches, reading their daughters’ letters by phone light between artillery barrages. Some are in russian captivity, where the only thing keeping them alive is the thought of a face they have not seen in years. Some have given their lives for Ukraine and will never come home. Their children will grow up with photographs."
