The app for independent voices

The food transition movement could do with a communications facelift. 💄

We have much to learn from the energy movement, which has been refined over decades to much avail.

My top suggestion that you may have seen me use (if you’re one of my few followers…) is to speak about 🙌 The Food Transition 🙌

We’re often stuck on what to call it. We all know that ‘veganism’ isn’t largely popular. ‘Plant-based’ doesn’t scream systems change. And ‘food systems transformation’ is one syllable off from a children’s tongue-twister.

But the ‘Food Transition’ could be a tactile term for the movement to get behind, and have a larger collective voice.

Why?

👉 It’s short and punchy

👉 It doesn’t come across as values-based or subjective, making it more politically neutral.

👉 But mainly, it subtly connects itself to the energy transition - a familiar, household term that a) has great public support, b) has an air of inevitability, rather than debate and c) is widely accepted in the mainstream as being for the public good.

I’d be very interested on others thoughts on this, and any other terms that you may think of!

P.s. I was planning on writing a post on this, but in case I don’t get the time, I just wanted to note it here!
