You can want real connection and want more people to read your work.

You can cringe at growth hacks and be delighted when your subscriber count goes up.

You can write from the soul and occasionally check your stats obsessively.

Monetising or promoting your work does not make your art less authentic. We’re all posting on a publishing platform, not whispering our thoughts into a forest.

It’s okay to want to be seen.

And it’s okay not to be a starving artist, too.
