In the 96 days of the 2023 Major League Baseball season so far, Monday was only the ninth time that a batter won Box-Toppers Player of the Day honors. (Kyle Tucker of the Astros.) On the other 87 days of the season, a pitcher has won Box-Toppers Player of the Day honors.

It was also only the third time this season that batters won both overall Player of the Day honors and the opposite league’s overall Player of the Day. Xander Bogaerts of the Padres was National League Player of the Day Monday. The other two times it happened in 2023:

April 22—Adolis García of the Rangers was overall Player of the Day and James Outman of the Dodgers was NL Player of the Day.
May 1—Sean Murphy of the Braves was overall Player of the Day and Mauricio Dubon of the Astros was AL Player of the Day.
