Make money doing the work you believe in

Nothing will jerk you to life like the realisation that your safe space was never safe.

You make room for people.

In your thoughts. In your words. In the things you choose not to say.

You adjust. You protect. You don't judge. You indulge.

You hold their story like something fragile even when they're not in the room.

But it'll take just one small event to change you.

One status.

One post.

One repost.

One comment of "THIS!!!" under a post that describes your reality accurately.

Hold on.

It may actually never be any of these.

Yours may be that you'd find yourself sitting and listening to words that aren't about you....except they are.

The details may be slightly changed.

The name? Definitely different.

But you know the shape of that story because you lived it.

You told it to someone.

In a quiet moment, in a vulnerable season, you handed someone a piece of yourself, and somewhere along the line, it became their content.

The outcome from such experiences is definitely change.

Change that comes after a moment of silent grief.

My favourite part is that people will always notice when you have changed but are never smart enough to either remember what caused the change or how they should behave to avoid that change.

It's always a funny situation.

But it's worth it, because when these things happen, you learn to become better at sitting with yourself in tough times.

.

.

.

You learn to become your own friend.

You learn to experience life without sharing your experiences with others.

You get to observe your surroundings, pick a book or realize that the tiles of your room are made up of nine columns and fifteen rows.

You acquire new hobbies, and change your perspective of what a safe space is.

All because

Life taught you that nothing jerks you to life like the realisation that your so called safe space was never safe to begin with.

It was all in your head.
