Shawarma Style Chicken
This chicken is so flavorful and it works great in a wrap or rice bowl.
Recipe:
Marinade (2 chicken breasts)
* 2 tbsp olive oil
* Juice of ½ lemon
* 1 tbsp pineapple juice (optional)
* 1 tsp tomato paste (optional)
* 2 cloves garlic, minced or grated
* 2 tsp paprika
* 1 tsp smoked paprika
* 2 tsp ground cumin
* 1 tsp turmeric
* 1 tsp garlic powder
* 1 tsp onion powder
* 1 tsp dried oregano
* ½ tsp ground cinnamon
* 1½ tsp kosher salt
* 1 tsp black pepper
* Optional: a pinch of red pepper flakes if you want a little heat. A pinch of garlic salt for extra garlic flavor.
Cut chicken into thin strips. Mix everything together and coat the chicken well. Marinate for at least 30 minutes.
Baking method:
1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
2. Place the marinated chicken on a foil- or parchment-lined baking sheet. Leave a little space between the pieces.
3. Bake for 18–22 minutes, depending on thickness, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
4. Broil on High for 5 minutes watching closely to prevent burning. (Optional)
5. Let the chicken rest for 5-10 minutes
