🤬🤬🤬🤬 A handcuffed Black man is being escorted out of his home by U.S. Marshals—already restrained, already being led away—and an officer just hits him. In the face. For no reason.
This happened in Jackson, Mississippi. Caught on a doorbell camera, because there's no body cam.
The U.S. Marshals Service says it's “investigating”. But we've seen this before. Investigations that lead nowhere. No transparency. And rarely ever any real consequences.
This isn't isolated. The same task force was caught on video beating handcuffed teenagers in 2021. And just last year, Mississippi's 'Goon Squad' got years in prison for torturing two Black men in a racially motivated attack.
So what can you do?
1. Share this. Without footage, this disappears. The Intercept reported that major networks had the video and chose not to run it.🤬
2. File a complaint. Report misconduct to the U.S. Marshals Office of Professional Responsibility:
☎️ 703-740-8132
Mail: USMS Office of Professional Responsibility, Internal Affairs, 3601 Pennsy Drive, Landover, MD 20785
Online form:usmarshals.gov
3. Call your representatives. Demand transparency. Demand body cameras for federal task forces. (The USMS has a body cam program—but conveniently not all officers are equipped yet) ☎️ 202-224-3121
If you believe every police interaction should be recorded and reviewed, say it. Because without cameras, we wouldn't even know this happened. 🤬
