When I was a kid, William O. Douglas was on the SCOTUS. Toward the end of his career, he returned to Washington State and was hearing something at the courthouse a few blocks from where I was working. I told my employer, "Hey, I gotta walk over and see if I can take a look at Justice Douglas," and he said, "Take your time." I did, I saw him a while through the window in the courtroom door, and knew I was seeing a legend in person.
What might a SCOTUS be like with a few more William O. Douglasses on board. We really, really need to find out.
