The app for independent voices

Substack is lying to writers: It needs to start deducting paid unsubscribes from its “Estimated revenue increase” figure. Right now, Substack misleadingly calculates this figure by adding up all the paid subscribers a writer gets off a post, but they don’t deduct the paid unsubscribes! This is lying to writers! You could gain 2 paid subs and lose 10, and Substack will misleadingly make you think u made money.

I’ve spoken about this before, but Substack needs to stop with the misleading analytics that are aimed to trick writers into thinking they’re doing better than they are. It doesn’t help anyone, it just makes it harder to evaluate your business. YouTube analytics are clear and accurate, Substack’s analytics should be the same.
