👊 Whoever does something like this deserves to get hit so hard that they can’t get back up again. Five years of destroying world heritage, bombing civilians, and spitting in the face of the EU and NATO. Get your act together and fund victory, Europe.
You may have your tail between your legs, but Ukraine doesn’t. Do what must be done instead of spoon-feeding Ukraine just enough to hold the line.
It’s not just disrespectful, it’s simply stupid, on at least three accounts:
1) you’re wasting money, ridiculous amounts of tax money, that of me and most people I know, and if that were punishable, you would be behind bars,
2) you’re failing to play the one hand/chance to prove that you are strong and thus deserve to be addressed eye to eye by the US and China,
3) you’re missing out on a historically unique chance to learn how to fight an entirely new kind of war, one which you are currently only capable of losing, horribly fast and disastrously, if recent NATO exercises with Ukrainian Red Teams are any indication, and you know they are.
You can truly stand with Ukraine instead of throwing money from a distance, protect the lives of your citizens, and stand on the right side of history, or keep buying tanks and frigates, hide behind bogus reforms, and try to pass the problem on to the lext legislative period while burning OUR money in the greatest money furnace in European history.
It is obvious to everybody and their mother (and your adversaries) that you are not addressing the root causes, that you are not implementing the necessary systemic changes. Buying a couple thousand drones doesn’t deter, buying tanks doesn’t deter, giving Ukraine a stick JUST long enough that they can’t achieve their strategic goals doesn’t deter. Sanctions don’t deter. You know that everybody knows that, and the world has five-plus years of undeniable proof which you are in denial of.
Maybe you could pretend for a while that there is real accountability, that there are real personal consequences for your actions, that you will be judged not by whether you looked good in the photos and spent all the money but that you would be judged by whether what you implemented actually worked. Whether number of hybrid attacks declines, whether Ukraine is advancing faster through your actions, whether the enemy is coerced to come to the table and make the appropriate concessions.
There is neither time nor budget for hesitation, timidness, half-4ssing decisions. What needs to be done is not some kind of ultra-complex answer to a question we don’t understand. Everybody knows what needs to be done.
Do it.
