Japanese fans once again stayed behind after their 2026 FIFA World Cup opening match against the Netherlands to clean the stadium, showing the discipline and respect they are famous for.

Following Japan’s 2–2 draw with the Netherlands in Dallas, supporters picked up trash throughout the stands, leaving the venue spotless. FIFA even highlighted their actions on social media, praising their impeccable manners.

This tradition isn’t new. Japanese fans have been cleaning stadiums since their first World Cup in 1998, and the players themselves also tidy their dressing rooms before leaving. It reflects a cultural value taught from childhood in Japan: respect for shared spaces and leaving things better than you found them.
