You are dead right mark. Your comment inspired me to note this in a file on taxation:
Taxation is a mafia protection racket. And always has been. It is not voluntary it is done with absolute violence of the State, who has the monopoly on violence. If you refuse to pay the taxes demanded then the State uses its power to smash you.
