Make money doing the work you believe in

Sorry, but I just don’t believe that the NYT would suddenly start reporting honestly on Trump’s cover-up after doing everything they could to aid Trump and his allies for the past decade. Something’s rotten in Denmark.

I’m calling it right now: Trump’s admin is preparing to invoke the 25th due to his rapidly declining health. But after building their entire brand on Trump as the indomitable strongman (always a requisite for a fascist regime), and especially after making Biden’s age the biggest talking point of the previous campaign, they can’t just come right out and admit that Trump’s brain is Swiss cheese.

So they’ve decided to use the coverup of the Epstein files as their excuse to get Trump out. And this NYT article is an important part of the plan.

The way that article repeatedly brought the focus back to Vance and the part he supposedly played in the Situation Room.. the way it’s always Vance who supposedly makes the wise, sensible calls in the midst of this crisis. The article even opens on a description of Vance sitting in the most prominent position, the place of the de facto leader.

And whose POV is that article told from, anyway? Are journalists typically permitted in the Situation Room when a regime discusses how to enact the biggest coverup in the history of the nation? How do we get all these details about who sat where and who said what and what expression was on Blanche’s face?

I construct narrative for a living. I know what I’m looking at.

This is a work of fiction more than it is legitimate journalism. And its entire purpose is to make the idea of President JD Vance acceptable, if not palatable, to the MAGA cult. “Look, Vance wanted the Epstein files released all along! Vance doesn’t like anything these coverup goons were doing! Trump got corrupted and yeah, he’s heavily implicated by the Epstein files, but Vance wanted them released all along, no matter who’s in them. Two legs good, four legs bad.”

Count it. This is the play they’re making.

(Important contextual note: I’m high)
