There was a time in my life when I couldn’t eat just one. 😬

If a “forbidden” food came into the house, it felt almost impossible not to finish it. Like once the door was open, there was no stopping.

Now? I can eat half, feel satisfied, and move on. Sometimes I don’t even think about it again until the next time I genuinely want one.

What changed? A few things — and none of them were willpower.

1. I started healing my relationship with my body.

I learned that my worth isn’t tied to what I eat, how much I eat, the number on the scale, or what I see in the mirror.

2. I let go of the idea that food has moral value.

There’s no such thing as “good” or “bad” food. It’s all just food. It’s morally neutral. You’re not going to hell for eating sugar.

3. I began questioning the loud mental food rules.

🚨 “Carbs are bad!”

…are they, though?

4. I learned what real satisfaction feels like.

When I actually slow down, taste my food, and enjoy it, I don’t need as much. Funny how that works.

5. And I built more tools for emotional support.

Because when food is the only way we cope with stress, sadness, boredom, or anxiety… of course it’s going to feel out of control. The question became: what do I actually need right now?

This is the practice of intuitive eating.

It’s not a quick fix. It’s a skill. And like any skill, it takes time, patience, and a lot of self-compassion.

But on the other side of it?

Less guilt.

More trust.

A calmer relationship with food.

And a gentler relationship with yourself.

You realize you’re allowed to enjoy food. That you’re allowed to feel pleasure.

Because… it’s just a cinnamon roll. 🤍
