After Czechoslovakia's velvet revolution, the world looked at Romania and said: Ceaușescu is different. He will shoot. It won't fall the same way.
They were right that it wouldn't fall the same way. They were wrong that it wouldn't fall.
The spark was a pastor in Timișoara. The crowd turned on Ceaușescu during the live television broadcast you see in this video. He fled by helicopter and was executed on Christmas Day.
