During my12-years in the state senate and assembly, I wrote The Political Garage, a periodical blog discussing significant, but often overlooked political matters. Light dusting, not deep cleaning.
Recently, I considered reviving TPG. Except thousands of podcasters and “influencers” now saturate social media venues, some with staggering commercial success. It’s a challenge finding time for even the most compelling essays and podcasts.
That’s why I decided Three Dot Don…distributed online by Substack.
A unique American literary invention to write “items” in two or three sentences. Quick and practical to inform, not teach or preach. Items about “Americana”. A quick read or to checkout in more detail later. Posted Monday, Wednesday, and Friday on Substack.Examples from the first edition on February 9, 2026:
· Trump’s televised cabinet meetings are pure theater. Like Marlon Brando in “The Freshman” who demands “only good news” from his stockbroker. “Or things would get “uncomfortable, very uncomfortable”. Who would dare say to the president, “your TACOs make running the world impossible”.
· If you use Google Mail, have you noticed that Meta AI now summarizes what the email sender is saying? Bad enough. But it also must be interpreting YOUR prose. “Friends, Romans, countrymen, listen up.” Bill Shakespeare.
·
And speaking of theater, Amazon paid Melania Trump $40M to produce and direct her own (auto)biography. Airing on Prime. Most ironic comment: she sounds like an IMMIGRANT.
There you have it. I’d be grateful for your subscription to Three Dot Don…to sustain its production. Here’s the Substack link:
