I grew up believing that if I didn't convert my friends to evangelical Christianity that they would burn in hell forever. I myself was also terrified of ending up in hell. I prayed "the prayer" countless times, walked down the aisle to confess sin (even sin I wasn't aware of) and prayed every night before bed for Jesus to come into my heart just in case I didn't wake up.

Conservative evangelicalism weaponizes the fear of hell to control its adherents and ties being a true Christian to the MAGA movement. Hence if you don't vote the right way you're probably not a real christian which means you will end up in hell for all of eternity.

Today, I watch a message from popular Christian influencer Bryce Crawford that he gave at Turning Point USA's America fest to highlight how this logic works so it can be dismantled.
